Ever Heard of the 1% Rule?
Monday, August 06, 2007
People who really want to change or improve their lives often take massive action. I'm all for taking massive, decisive, focused action. These folks will grab the bull by the horns, seize the day, visualize their success and do every other cliche you can think of.
They'll make promises to do 50 - 100% more today than what they did yesterday. But, then something happens. Well, actually nothing happens. They make all these promises to themselves, but the enormity of what they want overwhelms them.
Guess what happens next. The dreaded "P" word! Procrastination.
I want to introduce a concept to you called the 1% Rule. It's very simple. It will help you get so much closer to your goals.
All you have to do is 1% more than what you did yesterday.
That's it. Everyday do 1% more than you did the day before. Now, your goals don't seem as daunting do they? I don't want you to go another five years holding on to that dream you have. Give 1% to it today.
One of the most important priciples I've learned in the last 2 years is this: You don't have to get it right, you just have to get it going. The universe rewards action.
Don't worry about being perfect. Do the best you can. Give the best quality you can. But, don't worry about perfection.
If you're waiting on everything to be perfect before you make a move, you can fughettaboutit.
We're real people living in a real world. Not perfect people living in a perfect world.
